Chilo is more than just a social studies and writing teacher to high school students in Long Island. As a writer/performer he has featured at hundreds of notable venues, events and institutions, such as NJPAC, NYU, Princeton University, Lincoln Center, the Apollo Theater, the Newport Jazz Festival and in 2015 was featured on the Grammy Winning album “The Offense of the Drum ” by Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra. Also, a founding member of the award winning NYC based poetry collective, El Grito de Poetas his accolades hold merit to what’s coming in the horizon with his music. This single “The Shotty Pop Guild” highlights his lyrical prowess as a teaser for an album he’s been working on with producer/lyricist Rod Da Blizz (The Labor Dept.), set to be released in 2024.
