Someone, somewhere, at sometime has likely tried to pull your strings and be your puppeteer. Some willingly submit to these tactics, some go looking for such control themselves, while others rebel. You’d be hard pressed to find anyone more rebellious than the three artists on “Prized Horse“ — Empuls, Copywrite and Slug (of Atmosphere) — three of the punchiest, bar heavy spitters to pick up a microphone, along with Wu affiliated producer Bronze Nazareth on the cinematic soundscape.
“We thought the juxtaposition of using puppets for such a trio was a fitting choice for the second video single off Empuls’ “Astronaut Dreams” (Out Now). When Copy and Slug heard the idea, they immediately sent over their own personal puppets they’ve used in previous videos to make it happen. Directed by Man Bites Dog Records owner R.M.L. and John Grove who brought the characters to life in a miniature world they created inside Records and Rarities, the Northern Virginia record store (and home base of Man Bites Dog Records) filled with vintage arcade machines and crates upon crates of wax. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it.” – R.M.L.
